Kitchens Made Simple just finished a complete and beautiful remodel of our kitchen, which was out of date by at least 40 years. The house itself is nearly 100 years old, and so it presented various construction, plumbing and electrical challenges. KMS did an exceptional job pulling the whole show together in a cost-effective and orderly way, and we've now got a great-looking, modern kitchen that is entirely up to code. KMS kept us in the loop at all times and stayed with the job until finished. We never had any real delays, and the whole thing was done in about six weeks. Rob, Doug and his crew were a pleasure to work with and fun to have around our house. These guys are respectful, skilled and experienced professionals. Highly recommended.
I retired in 2018, and had been saving to remodel the kitchen in my condo that was built in 1981. Doing some research, I learned of KMS through a friend who's neighbors had used KMS and were very happy with the results.
Daniel from KMS came to my home, and I discussed my vision for the remodel. After our meeting, I visited the KMS showroom in Roseville we finalized the remodel.
The remodel included completely gutting the kitchen, adding hardwood flooring throughout the kitchen, dining and living rooms. New Starmark cabinets, Cambria countertops and a backsplash. I also had my ceiling updated as a knockdown ceiling and LED ceiling lights installed. Additionally, I had the wood trim throughout the kitchen, living/dining rooms and hall replaced, and all rooms painted.
The KMS team of Doug, Rob, Daniel, Betsy, Mark, and Brandon were all wonderful to work with during my remodel. Loved their attention to detail, especially when someone like me had questions. Their answers and suggestions were very helpful. The KMS team of subcontractors for the electrical, flooring and ceiling were also A-1 to work with in my opinion.
As a result of my remodel, my condominium is now up to 2019 standards, and I couldn't be more pleased (just ask family and friends who have visited since it was completed). I will also be recommending friends looking to remodel their kitchen to KMS.
Keep up the good work!
Kitchens Made Simple transformed our 1950s kitchen and made our remodel an easy process from design, to installation and customer service. All was exceptional! We now have a functional kitchen and dining room that we never imagined possible. We even look forward to having people over to entertain! We would definitely use them again if we ever needed to.
We chose KMS due to the excellent reviews posted by other customers. Our project was a major renovation involving knocking two walls out and moving the kitchen to another room. From design to completion, KMS exceeded all our expectations. Rob was wonderful to work with and came up with a design that worked with our space. He was there throughout the process to help with all the decisions, including help with flooring, wall and design tiles, and countertops. While the decisions can be overwhelming, Rob made the process easy and less stressful. Doug and his crew are the ultimate professionals, performing quality work and providing excellent customer service. The project was very organized and we always knew what was happening next and what to expect. Our project ended up very close to budget, with all add-on costs due to changes we made. We are so happy with our new kitchen and would not hesitate to recommend KMS for any project big or small.
Our 50 year old kitchen had, shall we say, lost its luster. Now, after just a few weeks, It is all new and pretty, so much more functional and roomy enough for “helpers” to cook with me.
Kitchens Made Simple accomplished this make-over with their experienced staff and their formula for success. Phase one was designing with Rob’s expertise to rework the galley layout to include as many new features as I could think up; while keeping the budget always in mind. Together we perfected that plan inch by inch. I was given options, fully explained, on all the decisions with costs compared for every detail.
In Phase two, the project work was managed by Doug, and this stage went far smoother than I expected. It was a short four weeks (small kitchen) of watching the new room come together. All of the tradesmen who worked in our home were pleasant, respectful and efficient. Their work was expertly finished. I couldn’t be happier with the results: a beautiful, inviting, functional kitchen.
First impressions are everything, and I knew when walking through the door at KMS for the first time without any appointment that they were the company for me. Rob greeted me and listened to my questions and made me feel so at ease. A week later he came out, took measurements, listened to my ideals and came up with a design. This was going to be a major overhaul with knocking out walls and expanding into two living rooms spaces.
Because I was doing this remodel alone, I needed a company that would listen, but also help me in some of my choices, plus hire out all the sub-contractors. The KMS crew always showed up on time.
We only went 1 week over the schedule, yes, there were a few minor things that came up, but anything that I wanted fixed or touched up at the end was done, yes I went over budget but that was because I added a few things that wasn’t in the budget to begin with. The entire team from Rob, Doug and his crew, granite guy, flooring, electrician was great to work with.
Not going to lie, living through a major remodel for 2 months isn’t fun, and my motto was, and this too shall pass. When it was finally over, I had tears of happiness, it’s just BEAUTIFUL & PRICELESS. I absolutely LOVE, LOVE my kitchen and all the extra things that also got done in the house. I would HIGHLY recommend KMS. I’m planning on using them again later down the road to do new counters/flooring in the bathrooms.
Lorna & I were considering a kitchen make-over, we saw your ad in the St Paul paper and decided to give ‘Kitchens Made Simple’ a call.
Everything from the first meeting with Rob, brainstorming ideas, measurements, design, choosing cabinets, countertops and an open concept design was a pleasure. Rob was always there to answer our questions.
We expressed to Rob when we would like to have the date of completion. We were contacted by Doug in advance of the starting date. On that date, Doug went over what was going to happen over the next 7 – 8 weeks. He had a list of what & when demo, electrical, permit checks, plumbing, sheetrock, painting, flooring, cabinets installed, and the long wait for granite would happen and the installation of new appliances.
It was a pleasure to watch the entire project come together as scheduled and on time.
Thanks to all involved, you were great to work with.
We love our new kitchen and strongly recommend ‘Kitchens Made Simple’ to anyone considering a kitchen makeover.
It was a pleasure doing business with Kitchens Made Simple. We began with several meetings with Rob, our designer, to plan the kitchen remodel. With our kitchen design completed, we met with Doug, our project manager, to formulate a plan and timeline to make our kitchen a reality. Doug’s plan moved along like clockwork from week to week. The crews are friendly professionals who take pride in their work. There were plenty of drop clothes to limit the mess to the rest of our living space and good clean up at the end of the day. Projected timeline to complete was 5 weeks. The project was completed in 5 weeks. I commend Kitchens Made Simple for doing what they said they were going to do in the time they said they were going to do it. We thank you for our beautiful kitchen.
We had a fantastic kitchen remodel experience with Kitchens Made Simple. They made the entire process comfortable and painless. We trusted them and they did not disappoint. We LOVE our new kitchen. Their help in selecting materials and colors was so easy and turned out perfectly. Rob was a smooth designer. Doug was spot-on on his project timetable and management. We always knew what to expect, and he was calm and reliable. John did fantastic quality of labor, and we were completely at ease having Kitchens Made Simple’s teams in our home even when we were not there. We appreciated the fact that almost all the work was done by a few of Kitchens Made Simple’s own employees, and not many teams of subcontractors with many strangers always coming through. The final product is worth every penny. We feel we got a fantastic value for our money with Kitchens Made Simple. We will recommend them to our friends with no hesitations.
Kitchens Made Simple did an excellent job turning my kitchen into a masterpiece. Because it’s a smaller company, I got to know the workers. If I had a concern about anything they did, I could just ask them. They had a work timeline and they stuck to it. Also, they used drop cloths to protect my furniture and floors. I would use this company again in a heartbeat.
My husband and I were total renovation virgins and had no clue where to begin to redesign our awkward and ugly kitchen. Our home was built in 1947 and came with a lot of character and a lot of “projects”. After purchasing a design deal on Angie’s list, we called KMS and set up an initial appointment for Charles to come out and get some measurements and have an initial discussion of what our challenges were. Charles was great – he was able to come in and immediately see the potential in a space that we had completely given up on and he also gave us some ideas on things that we could do ourselves to keep the cost of the renovation down. Next, we met with Jaqlyn to review her initial design and get a better understanding of the cost by line item. Her initial design was amazing – she made our tiny, cramped kitchen look spacious and organized – and it stayed true to the period of the home which was really important to us. After a few discussions and some minor tweaks and changes we were able to finalized the design. Jaqlyn was SO patient with us and never seemed annoyed with the frequent phone calls for changes. Once we had settled on the design we got the quote for cost – and it came in over our budget and for a moment we thought all hope was gone, but Jaqlyn and Charles had a back up plan for us that satisfied all of our needs and met our budget. KMS was so great to work with during design that we couldn’t imagine not having them not doing the renovation so we decided to proceed with KMS to perform the work. After about 4 weeks, Doug reached out to us to meet and go over the renovation timeline, what we should expect and to do a walk through of the site. His team started the following Monday with demo and things were underway. I can’t say enough good things about Doug and his team. They were on time, very professional and treated my home with the care in which they would treat their own. Doug was onsite frequently and really made sure that the team delivered quality that he felt comfortable putting the KMS name behind. We ordered laminate counter tops which were built onsite and looked great – except for the color variation that happened at the seem right under the pendulum light at the sink. When we brought this to Doug’s attention he immediately set forth to fix it – he had the counter top guy come back in and redo the section in order to find a better color match. Talk about amazing customer service! We were SO impressed and pleased that we had found a company that treated each kitchen as if it were there own, and that not only customer satisfaction was important, but that the job was done right was important as well. So cool! Overall, KMS completed the job ahead of schedule and on budget – and very professionally! We will definitely use them again when it comes time to remodel the bathroom!
We got the remodeling bug after visiting the spring home show. We used Angie’s List to find local kitchen remodelers. After talking with several remodelers about our plans we were most impressed by the willingness of the people at KMS to work with us and not push only their ideas. We met with Jaqlyn on numerous occasions over a period of months as we educated ourselves and decided what we wanted in our new kitchen. Jaqlyn was always very pleasant and willing to rework the plans as needed by our design decisions. Once the design was finalized and the cabinets ordered, Doug outlined the remodeling schedule. The only deviations from the schedule were the result of structural problems discovered during the demolition phase that needed addressing and some incorrect items shipped by the cabinet company that needed to be reordered. Doug, Rob and Jaqlyn worked hard to get the hiccups addressed in a timely fashion. We are very happy with the professionalism and high quality of work of all the KMS staff. The subcontractors they used also did very good work, especially Dana who installed the new countertop. We are very happy with our new kitchen and highly recommend the team at KMS.
We met with the friendly and professional designer, Kay, on numerous occasions over a period of 4 months (we were gone for the winter for two of those months.) She provided us excellent ideas, suggestions, and was very helpful and accommodating to us as we educated ourselves and made decisions on what we wanted to have in our new kitchen. We made many changes during this time, and on every change, Kay was there to help us. She pointed out a few planning “mistakes” we had made, and used her wealth of knowledge to refine our ideas so we would achieve the results that we wanted. Kay showed us our computer model new kitchen, and then printed out the computer “model” pictures so we could take then home and visualize how our new kitchen would look while we were still considering many additional details. We finally ordered our cabinets, and then waited for 5-6 weeks for the cabinets to arrive. We worked on other details of lighting and appliances during this time, purchasing our new appliances, moving heating ducts, contracted other miscellaneous jobs like painting the walls and ceiling, installing a new floor, etc. Besides the $21000 we spent with KMS, we spent almost that much more on the flooring, appliances, lighting, bar stools, granite countertops and installation of those features. The people at KMS were outstanding. They were very knowledgeable, interesting, helpful and fun to work with. They were professional and good natured. They knew what they were doing, and they did it well. Rob and his helper, Joe, did an outstanding job of professionally installing our cabinets. We had a couple of small hiccups, and Rob immediately resolved these issues, did want we asked, and we were very, very happy with the outcome, and are proud of our amazing new kitchen. We would definitely contract KMS again if we decide to design another kitchen. Great quality, and a great experience. We were fortunate to find Kitchens Made Simple through an Angie’s List offer concerning kitchen design from KMS exactly when we needed them. We would definitely like to compliment and to thank the entire KMS staff who helped us make our dream kitchen a reality.
